Happy 35th Birthday David / Daddy! The kids and I decided to celebrate David's birthday today, in memory of him. We did all the things we would have done if he were still here. His sister Sheri and kids, Court & Kyle came over for pizza. We lit the candles on his cake and sang to him. The kids blew out the candles. We all had a scoop of Chunky Monkey ice cream with our cake, in David's honor. (Banana ice cream was one of his most favorite things) Brady had the idea of making cards and tying them to helium balloons to send up to Daddy. So the four of them went off to work on their cards. Brady's card was especially thoughtful and brought Sheri & me to tears. Here's what he wrote: "Dear Daddy, How are you doing up there. Please keep the balloon. I hope you like the stone. Keep watch over us. We miss you! Love, Your Son." We went up on the hill behind the house and the kids let the balloons go. We were amazed at how fast they were taken up into the sky, they were all quickly out of sight. Especially Brady's, it was gone in a flash. It was a rough day and was a birthday David should have been here for, but we're glad we chose to celebrate for him. We know he was watching us and we're sure he could feel the love we were sending to him today....and we're positive he got those balloons and four special cards.
