Teacup Penny

Emily had a way of getting David to do things he did not want to do - and riding things he was MUCH too big for at amusement parks was one of them. So when we first made plans (before David died)to go to Disney, Emily & I teased that we couldn't wait to see Daddy in the teacups. After he died and we continued with our plans for the trip, Em sadly commented that we wouldn't get to see Daddy in the teacups. At Disney it was THE one ride that she INSISTED on finding and riding our first night there. When we got up in line and it was our turn to come in, my cousin Regina tells Em, you pick the teacup. Now there were empty cups closer to us - and they were pink & purple, so I was sure she would pick one of them -but no, Em points clear across the ride to a blue cup and states "I want to ride in that one!" So the four of us girls cram into this tiny teacup. Emily comments that "Daddy would NEVER have fit in these Mommy!" And we joke that he would've had to have ridden in the the teaPOT! We laughed and enjoyed our ride. When the ride was over I exited the cup first and when I turned around outside of the ride Emily was all grins and she held up a penny! She found it on the edge of the cup, where the hatch closed, as we had gotten off the ride! She said she KNEW it was from Daddy! I had to agree, none of us saw it when we got IN the cup - and how did it stay there the whole ride? This was just one of the many times we "felt" David with us on our trip. I know it would have nearly crippled him, but he would have ridden those teacups with Em -and with a smile on his face...and a bigger one on hers. That love...the love he had for his kids...is just one of the many things I miss so terribly about him.
