One of the biggest things I miss is when I would call the house to talk with Patty, and Dave would answer the phone- You could hear his big smile through the phone. Now at least his voice can still be heard on the answering machine, and that is awesome!!One of the last times I was around Dave was the M-league championship game at the Hot Stove baseball fields. Things were getting pretty heated-the other teams coach seemed to want to play by his own rules (and the umps didn't seem to mind!). Some of the kids were getting down, but Coach Dave was amazing. He worked his magic, held his cool, and the kids came out of that game with positive attitudes; even though they lost. My kids never got to experience Dave as a coach and it is a shame.
